National Care Experienced Week 2020

National Care Experienced Week

This week is National Care Experienced Week, an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the successes of care experienced young people in the UK. Each year, around 30,000 children and young people leave care in England. Most young people who leave care to live independently do so by the age of 18, leaving them to navigate independent living and adulthood. This week, we’ll be recognising the incredible care experienced young people we work with in Together For Children and will be celebrating their achievements.

"I'm feeling positive about my future and where it will take me." - Dan, 23

"Find what you're passionate about, no matter how unachievable it might seem - if you put your mind to it, you can do it" - Loren, 21

"I carried on following my passion with music which I grew fond of since the beginning of secondary school, by applying and completing a two-year BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Music Practice at Bede Campus." - Mark, 18

"I had a few obstacles along the way but to finish that course and get a qualification meant so much to me and gave me the courage I needed" - Rhiannon, 18

"Never think that you are unable to accomplish something just because of your background - you can!" - Judith, 27

"Stick in at school because later down the line you will look back and say to yourself “ I am glad what I did at school because I have met my goals” - Billy, 21

"Always believe in yourself and don't give up at the first stage, even if you find it really difficult" - Bridey, 18

"Never give up on what you want to achieve, it doesn’t matter what others believe or tell you!" - Gabby, 18
