Sunderland Youth Parliament

Sunderland Youth Council (formerly Sunderland Youth Parliament) – a group of young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 with LDD) that aim to represent the voices of young people in Sunderland, working to make change on specific issues voted for by young people.

SYC is responsible for hosting the Young People's State of the City Debate that takes place in November each year. The group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings from 4.30 to 6.30pm

 

Children and Young People’s Advisory Network  (CYPAN) – young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 with LDD) who work alongside Children’s Strategic Partnership to ensure young people’s views are at the heart of decision making across all services.

 

Change Council; Young People in Care Changing Lives – a group of young people aged 16+ who are currently looked after or leaving care young people, representing the voices of children and young people who are in care and leaving care. Click here for more details on Change Council.

 

Change Council; Young People in Care Changing Lives – a group of young people aged 10-15 who are currently looked after representing the voices of children and young people who are in care.

 

LGBT+ – a group of young people who meet to socialise and discuss issues.

 

P&E Juniors – young people aged 8-10 that aim to represent the voices of children at primary school age.

 

Young Inspectors and Commissioners – a programme that trains young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 with LDD) to inspect services used by young people. Young people will then inspect and evaluate a variety of services used by young people.
