We are all going through these difficult times but our team are still available to help. If you are a Kinship Carer who would like to talk to a member of the team or are looking for support for you and your family, the telephone number for the Connected Carers Team is 0191 5615667. We would very much like to hear from you. If you would like more information for Special Guardians and Kinship Carers, our information booklet can be viewed here.

Our Connected Carers Team are involved in the assessment and support of Connected Carers and Special Guardians. This is known as kinship care.

Kinship care is an arrangement where children who are unable to live with their parents, for a range of reasons, are brought up by family members, friends or other people who are connected to them.

A Special Guardianship Order (SGO) is a Court Order that places a child or a young person to live with someone other than their parents. The Special Guardian will get higher parental responsibility than other persons with parental responsibility for the child.

The Connected Carers Team can continue to provide advice and guidance to Special Guardians after an Order is made.

The Connected Carers Team welcomes requests from Special Guardians post Order, for support assessments. If therapeutic intervention is recommended, the team can apply to the Adoption Support Fund for such interventions and are already working with a number of experienced therapists. We look forward to hearing from you and can be contacted on 0191 5615667 or connectedcarers@togetherforchildren.org.uk
