Fostering Fun Day

On February 19, Together for Children Fostering held a successful half-term fun day at Sandhill Sports Centre in Sunderland.

It was one of our busiest events yet as we were joined by foster children, children who foster and their carers who enjoyed the array of different activities we had. In total, there were approximately 40 children who attended over the two hour period.

At the sports centre, we had access to the swimming pool, the gymnasium and the large sports hall. There were two 45 minute sessions in the pool for the kids, while in the sports hall there was football being played. In the gymnasium, there we several different fun and games such as our soft play area (pictured), nail painting, arts and crafts activities along with refreshments for all.

One component that proved popular was Animal Antics who brought in many different animals – from rabbits, small owls, snakes and creepy crawlies – such as tarantulas! This became a great photo opportunity for the children who attended.

This event was just one of many that have been planned for this year – we are also looking to hold an Easter fun day in April, along with a big event in late July.

Together for Children would like to thank everybody who attended, as well as Candy Kids Entertainment who provided the soft play, Animal Antics and the staff at Sandhill Sports Centre.
