Together for Children provides a range of help to disabled children and young people, their families and carers in Sunderland.
The Children's Disability Service work with severely disabled children; this includes any child or young person up to the age of 18 who has a:
- Substantial physical disability
- Severe communication difficulty (including autistic spectrum disorder)
- Severe learning disability
If you think you need help from the Children's Disability Service you will be offered an assessment.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities - our Local Offer
The aim of the Local Offer is to support children and young people (ages 0 to 25) with SEN and disabilities to feel included within their communities and to be independent. It can help you make choices and decisions that may have a positive impact now and into the future.

Disabled Children Register
If you're a parent of a child with special educational needs and / or disabilities (SEND) you can also sign up for our Disabled Children Register (DCR). For joining the register you will receive a Max Card that will entitle you and your family discount entry to attractions and days out across the North East.
You'll also be kept up-to-date with developments in our services for disabled children and young people.
