Connected Carers

Grandmother with child

Our Connected Carers Team is involved in the assessment and support of Connected Carers and Special Guardians. This is known as kinship care.

Kinship care is an arrangement where children who are unable to live with their parents, for a range of reasons, are brought up by family members, friends or other people who are connected to them.

A Special Guardianship Order (SGO) is a Court Order that places a child or a young person to live with someone other than their parents. The Special Guardian will get higher parental responsibility than other persons with parental responsibility for the child.

The Connected Carers Team can continue to provide advice and guidance to Special Guardians after an Order is made.

To contact our Connected Carers Team please email connectedcarers@togetherforchildren.org.uk or call the Duty Worker on 0191 561 5667.
